DATC Certificate of Program Completion (Catalog Year: 2017, Required Hours: 1200)

ESTH 0000 - Esthetician Services Orientation 0 Hours
Students in this program will learn basic skin care including the structure, composition, and maintenance of healthy skin as well as the factors that influence aging of the skin. Students will learn how to recognize various skin disorders, and how to perform various types of hair removal, facials, and makeup techniques. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be prepared to take the State of Utah Esthetician Licensing written and practical examinations in order to obtain a professional license, which is required to practice as an Esthetician.  
ESTH 1150 - Esthetician I 120 Hours
In this course, students will learn the basic procedures of skin care including an understanding of the basic structure and composition of the skin and maintenance of healthy skin. Students will learn the factors that influence aging of the skin and recognize which skin disorders can be treated in the salon and which should be referred to a physician. They will learn the procedures for proper set-up, cleaning, and disinfection during treatments and perform various types of facials, hair removal, superficial chemical peels, manicures, and pedicures on their classmates and models.  
ESTH 1250 - Esthetician II 120 Hours
In this course, students will learn how nutrition affects the skin, make-up techniques, and the procedures for advanced facials, chemical peels, and lash and brow tinting. Students will perform gel manicures and pedicures and continue to develop their skills in hair removal on their classmates and models. They will also learn business skills, how to communicate effectively with clients, and the importance of meeting industry standards of quality, professionalism, efficiency, sanitation, and safety in preparation for entering the Esthetician industry.  
ESTH 1951 - Esthetician Clinical I 120 Hours
In the Esthetician Clinical you will apply the principles and practices learned in the Esthetician Theory and Esthetician Skill Development courses as you perform a variety of services on clients in the Cosmetology salon. The clinical will help prepare you to pass the State of Utah licensure exams.  
ESTH 1952 - Esthetician Clinical II 120 Hours
In the Esthetician Clinical you will apply the principles and practices learned in the Esthetician Theory and Esthetician Skill Development courses as you perform a variety of services on clients in the Cosmetology salon. The clinical will help prepare you to pass the State of Utah licensure exams.  
ESTH 1953 - Esthetician Clinical III 120 Hours
In the Esthetician Clinical you will apply the principles and practices learned in the Esthetician Theory and Esthetician Skill Development courses as you perform a variety of services on clients in the Cosmetology salon. The clinical will help prepare you to pass the State of Utah licensure exams.  
ESTH 1350 - Master Esthetician I 150 Hours
In this course, students will learn about the advanced procedures in skin care including an understanding of the advanced structure and composition of the skin and how to maintain healthy skin. Students will learn factors that influence aging of the skin and recognize which skin disorders can be treated in the salon and which ones should be referred to a physician. They will learn and practice the fundamental skills in advanced hair removal, facials, body treatments, chemical peels, microdermabrasion and advanced manicures and pedicures. In addition, students will learn safety guidelines, communication, professionalism, state licensing requirements and career opportunities within the industry.  
ESTH 1450 - Master Esthetician II 150 Hours
In this course, students will continue to learn and practice the fundamental skills in advanced facials, body treatments, and medium deep chemical peels. Students will learn basic theory behind laser treatment technology theory of the laser machine, laser safety, specific functions and uses of various hand pieces, and skin typing. Students will perform hands on training for a full range of esthetic procedures. IPL, Hair Removal, Sublative Rejuvenation and Skin Tightening. Students will also receive CPR certification training, be taught essential business skills, and learn how to communicate effectively with clients to meet industry standards of quality, professionalism, efficiency, sanitation and safety to fulfill all the requirements of an industry employee in practicing a number of esthetic services.  
ESTH 1961 - Master Esthetician Clinical I 100 Hours
In the Master Esthetician Clinical students will apply the principles and practices learned in the theory and skill development courses. Students will perform a variety of services on clients in the Esthetic Spa, such hands-on laser applications, demonstrate practical interviewing, retail and marketing skills. Students will also demonstrate advanced esthetics and medical esthetics for developing the knowledge needed in the esthetics field. The clinical will help prepare you to pass the State of Utah licensure exams.  
ESTH 1962 - Master Esthetician Clinical II 100 Hours
In the Master Esthetician Clinical students will apply the principles and practices learned in the theory and skill development courses. Students will perform a variety of services on clients in the Esthetic Spa, such hands-on laser applications, demonstrate practical interviewing, retail and marketing skills. In the Esthetician Clinicals you will apply the principles and practices learned in the Esthetician Theory and Esthetician Skill Development courses as you perform a variety of services on clients in the Cosmetology salon. The clinicals will help prepare you to pass the State of Utah licensure exams.  
ESTH 2003 - Esthetician Clinical VII 60 Hours
In the Esthetician Clinicals you will apply the principles and practices learned in the Esthetician Theory and Esthetician Skill Development courses as you perform a variety of services on clients in the Cosmetology salon. The clinicals will help prepare you to pass the State of Utah licensure exams.  
ESTH 2004 - Master Esthetician Clinical IX 20 Hours
In the Master Esthetician Clinicals you will apply the principles and practices learned in the theory and skill development courses as you perform a variety of services on clients in the Cosmetology salon. The clinicals will help prepare you to pass the State of Utah licensure exams.  
ESTH 2005 - Master Esthetician Clinical X 40 Hours
