Dental Assisting

Admissions Requirements
Catalog Year: 2017

Post-secondary students may enroll in the Dental Assisting program. Students must meet the following additional program requirements:

  • Adult students must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pass DATC Admissions Tests in reading, language, spelling, math, typing, and computer skills (operating system, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic presentations) at the program required levels of competency.*
  • Complete a physical exam performed by a physician and provide documentation of all required vaccinations.
  • Complete a Dental Assisting Program Application. 

Post Admission Requirements:

Students accepted into the Dental Assisting Program, must meet the following requirements:

  • Take and pass a urine drug screen.Complete and pass a federal criminal background check.**

*In most cases, students who need assistance with these skills can be enrolled in Skill Development classes either before starting their training program or concurrently while enrolled in the program.

**Any misdemeanor or felony conviction on record may negatively impact the chances of completing the program, being placed on an externship site, applying for the Certified Dental Assistant credential and obtaining employment in a health care setting. See instructor for more information.
